What size flue does the flue collar take?

The flue collar is designed to take 6” flue pipe.

Why is the advertised BTU different than the BTU output in the manual?

The Btu output listed in the owner’s manual is calculated under specific test conditions when undergoing EPA certification.  These parameters are not the same as normal usage of the stove.  The advertised Btu is based on the maximum Btu input that has been obtained in that particular stove.

Why can’t I get my wood to stay lit without leaving the door open?

A) Draft is the number one contributor to how well your stove is going to burn. Your chimney is what drives this draft.  If it is too short, or not made with the correct material or somehow not installed properly, it has a drastic impact on how well your stove performs. This can lead to the fire only staying lit if the feed door is open, smoking, blackened glass, and other issues if the chimney isn’t providing sufficient draft.  Newer EPA certified stoves require a substantial amount of draft than older non-regulated stoves.  You cannot compare how an old stove performed with how a new stove performs on the same installation.
B) The type of wood, quality of wood, and wood moisture are also integral in the performance of the stove. Wood should be seasoned properly with a moisture content between 15% and 20% (please note that surface moisture may be less than the internal moisture content so we recommend splitting the wood before checking the moisture content). Wood that has too high of a moisture content can lead to difficulty maintaining a fire, excessive smoking, and creosote production.

Where is this Product Made?

When it comes to product design, innovation, engineering, and testing, that all happens right here in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. Due to the competitive marketplace in the heating industry and the price point we want to offer our customers; we manufacture this model in China under very strict oversight.

Can you convert the venting from top to back or vice versa?

No, none of our heaters allow for the change of the flue location.

Can a flue damper be added to the chimney pipe?

With an EPA certified stove, a manual solid flue damper cannot be used.  If you are wanting more control over the fire to allow for a slower burn, we instead recommend a Barometric Draft Regulator.

Do I need to install a fresh air kit?

If the stove is mobile home approved and is being installed in a mobile home, then a fresh air kit is required.  It is only optional otherwise, but may be necessary if you have a really air tight home or you are getting a negative pressure in the house.  The addition of a fresh air kit can help with the overall draft of the stove.

Can I use a grate in the firebox?

We do not recommend the usage of any grates in any of our wood stoves.

Can my wood stove be burned without a blower.

Yes.  These stoves are designed to be operated without the use of a blower.  Most of the time the blowers are optional accessories that can be purchased if wanted, but not required.

How do I know if a particular stove is mobile home approved or not.

The front cover of the owner’s manual should state if a stove is approved for mobile home usage or not.  If you need to find the owner’s manual, the latest addition should be on our website. Owners Manuals
