Description

First introduced in 2001 as our first multi fuel stove, the 6041 stove has evolved into one of the most sophisticated heating appliances on the market. Not only is it capable of burning compressed wood pellets, it can also burn corn, soy beans, cherry pits, olive pits, bio mass fuel grains, and processed palletized silage with just a few simple adjustments. The 6041 is mobile home approved (with use of fresh air kit) and is extremely easy to install. This multi fuel heater works by using a software driven control board to precisely deliver a predetermined amount of fuel from the hopper into a burn chamber. An electric heating element, used only in startup, heats the fuel type until they ignite. The combustion blower forces air through the burn chamber and once ignited, it provides an active combustion of the fuel type resulting in very little ash. The exhaust and heat pass through one side of air chambers where on the other side, the variable speed room blower gathers the heat and distributes this through the room. This entire process results in a very clean burning, efficient heating machine for your home.

Can I install a wall thermostat?

Yes, however, it must be a wired thermostat.  The control boards do not accept wireless or smart thermostats.

Is there another model that ends in “W”? What the difference?

The models ending in W has Wi-Fi capabilities. This allows you to control the stove using the USSC App. The model without the W comes with a remote control that works with an IR sensor on the stove.

Can it exhaust through the ceiling?

Yes, it can be exhausted through the ceiling. Refer to the owners manual with installation recommendations.

Do you offer installation?

We recommend using an NFI Certified Installer.

Will my stove shut off when the desired temperature is met in T-Stat mode?

No.  These control boards are designed to be a High/Low thermostat mode rather than an ON/OFF.  This means that the control board will operate between heat range 1 and the setting that the control board is set to.  For example, if you have the control board set on heat range 3 and are running the stove in T-Stat mode the heater will run on heat range one any time that the temperature is sufficed, and it will run up to setting 3 anytime the thermostat is calling for heat.  If the Thermostat isn’t calling for heat, the stove will still run on the lowest setting, so this means that it is possible that it can exceed the setpoint temperature.

Why is my Wi-Fi control board flashing all the time?

This is likely due to the hopper fuel sensor. This is intended to indicate that the hopper fuel is getting low, however, this can also mean that the sensor just needs to be recalibrated.  This is a simple task.  You will just need a small flat head screwdriver to turn the small brass screw on the fuel sensor located on the back of the hopper.  Turn it clockwise slowly until the control board stops flashing when there are pellets in the hopper.

How often should I shut the stove down and clean the burn pot out?

This depends on how often you are running the stove.  It is recommended that the burn pot be emptied and cleaned before each ignition.  The burn pot should be inspected daily if you are continually using it to see if it needs to be cleaned.

What type of pellets should I be using?

We recommend only using PFI certified premium hardwood pellets.

Can I burn corn, coffee pellets, or other fuels in my pellet stove?

No. These stoves are designed and tested to specifically burn only wood pellets.

Do I need a fresh air kit?

If you have a mobile home certified pellet stove installed in a mobile home, then a fresh air kit is required.  If you are in a newer build home it is also recommended. If you are in a home with a small area for makeup air or you are getting a poor burn, then it is also recommended that you use a fresh air kit.

What type of power backup can I get to use during a power outage?

We recommend a minimum of 1000w pure sine wave invertor battery backup for a short period of time. If you are using a generator, we recommend that it is 1000w inverter generator.

Why is my auger not turning?

• First check that the auger pin is connected and not broken. If it is broken, then there is likely an auger jam.
• Auger jam is a potential cause.  This typically occurs due to a buildup of pellets in the auger tube. If this is the cause, you can usually clean out the hopper and remove the jam and the heater will then work as it should.
• The hopper switch is another likely culprit, this can move over time to where it is not fully engaging and may just need to be slightly adjusted.
• An issue with vacuum can also cause this to occur.  Vacuum issues are typically a result of a dirty stove/flue pipe, leaking gasket, or improperly installed exhaust pipe.
– Start by making sure that all clean outs are clean and free of debris.
– Make sure that the venting is installed per the owner’s manual and is not clogged with debris or ashes.

Do these heaters get hot to the touch?

Yes.  Though some parts such as the hopper and the back of the stove should remain relatively cool, the front and sides of the stove will get extremely hot and will cause burns if touched.
